Currently on tour in promotion of her latest studio album ‘Stronger’, former American Idol contestant turned pop star Kelly Clarkson honored the late legendary singer Etta James, who passed away this past January 20th.

After receiving the news that James had died in the hospital in Riverside, California, Clarkson took the time to perform what she called one of her favorite blues songs from the ‘At Last’ singer’s extensive collection of songs. Talking to her fans while rocking the stage at the Radio City Music Hall in New York per Just Jared, Clarkson surprised the crowd with ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’.
“This isn’t At Last’ because everyone really covers that and so I wanted to do my favorite, actually. My favorite song is ‘I’d Rather Go Blind.’ So, this is for Etta!”
Two days prior Clarkson had also tweeted her sadness over the loss of Etta James. “Sad news . she was great : (.” Before taking the stage in New York, Clarkson sent a message to her fans about her upcoming performance in the Big Apple. "I'M SO EXCITED THAT WE'RE PLAYING RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL TONIGHT!!!! I can't take it!! It's too much haha!! New York, are you ready?!!!" Adding after the show, "I LOVE NEW YORK!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! SUCH A GREAT NIGHT WOOHOOOOOOO :) :) :)."
Kelly Clarkson has been on the road since mid January. Her ‘Stronger’ Tour will continue on through April when she will finish off her travels in San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center. Watch Clarkson's performance of 'I'd Rather Go Blind'
