Kelly Clarkson played through the pain on Sunday night after twisting her ankle moments before the VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul concert in New York City.
Clarkson took to the stage with her right foot in a bandage after tripping in her high-heeled shoes on her way to the special show at the Hammerstein Ballroom, where she performed with Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige. The “Because of You” hitmaker later took to her Twitter.com page and told fans she was honored to be involved in the gig, despite her injury.
She tweeted, “Just finished taping Divas for VH1 and seriously there are some really talented ladies… Funny part of the evening is I twisted my ankle in a pair of heels right before the show started in a freakin pot hole on the street! Hurt like hell but still one of my favorite shows I’ve ever been a part of!”
The Divas gig, to air on Monday, also features performances from Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, and British singers Florence Welch and Jessie J, as well as a tribute to tragic soul star Amy Winehouse.
