We had hopes that Kelly Clarkson would walk away with a Country Music Association Award or two on Wednesday night, and we got our wish! Kel won the Musical Event of the Year category with Jason Aldean for their “Don’t You Wanna Stay” duet.

Kelly was also nominated with Jason Aldean for Best Single, but lost out to The Band Perry for “If I Die Young.” Fellow American Idol alum Carrie Underwood (who co-hosted the CMAs with Brad Paisley) was nominated for Female Vocalist, however Miranda Lambert took the crown.
Our girl Lauren Alaina presented the award for New Artist of the Year, while her buddy Scotty McCreery performed a rendition of Keith Urban’s “Walk in the Country.” When Scotty made his red carpet entrance, he told USA Today: "I've been walking down the carpet, seeing the artists, seeing people I've grown up listening to. It's really cool for me. It wasn't a year ago, I was an average Joe. American Idol has changed my life. This is insane."Congrats to Kelly and all the winners who took home a CMA Award!
