Kelly Clarkson has learned a lot in the nearly ten years since winning the first "American Idol."The singer released her fifth studio album, "Stronger," this week, and in a string of interviews promoting the album, talked about what has made her "stronger" and what lesson she has learned.
“I think I can be a very serious person, so I think me taking everything so to heart ... especially when I first started out. I was very much a perfectionist ... And I fight that still, but I'm a lot easier now,” the 29-year-old shared with MTV .
Clarkson also recently talked about standing up for what she believes in and dealing with tabloid rumors – one of which she addressed during an appearance on “The View,” as reported by The Huffington Post .
On the show Clarkson talked about how difficult it is to date while she’s working and that she thinks people believe she is gay because of her single status. Some in her hometown in Texas give her a hard time too.
"I'm from a small town so everyone's, like, married with children, having children or about to have children, so it's a little hard when you go home ... and that's why people think I'm gay,” the Grammy-winning artist confessed. “They're like, 'I don't understand why you're not married.' And I'm like, 'Well, it's not like that, it doesn't happen for everyone.' For Burleson, in Texas... I'm an old maid!”
She’d like to get married someday and have a family, but explained that it’s just too hard right now with traveling and not being around a lot of single guys. Clarkson doesn’t really have any regrets looking back, but there is one thing she would tell her younger self, USA Today reported. The singer would write a letter or tell herself to constantly keep good people around her because she wants to always have good character.
