As the winner of the very first season of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson’s name will forever be linked to the show that put her on the map. But rumors are swirling that Kelly’s gotten so famous she wants to separate herself from the the show. The singer set the record straight in an interview with FOX All Access.
Kelly said, “People in the press think that I think negatively about being associated with American Idol. And I don’t. I think it’s one of the coolest ways for an artist to come in, because you have that leverage with the fan base before your albums… I think it was a cool way to showcase all the different styles of music that I love. I mean, the fact that I got to sing big band on national television was one of my favorite things of all time, still to this day. So, um, I think it was a very cool experience for me.”
Kelly’s new album will be coming out in September, and judging by her recent duet with Jason Aldean, we can look for some sweet country sounds from the new Kelly record. Hey Kelly, might we suggest a duet with recent winner Scotty McCreery?
